The story of Rostam and the Div-e Sepid (White Demon) is a famous tale from Ferdowsi’s Persian epic, the Shahnameh. It recounts one of the heroic feats of Rostam, the legendary Persian hero, during his “Seven Labors” (Haft Khan).
In this tale, Rostam embarks on a perilous journey to rescue King Kay Kavus and his army, who are imprisoned and blinded by the sorcerous Div-e Sepid in Mazandaran. After overcoming numerous challenges, including battling fierce creatures and enduring harsh conditions, Rostam finally confronts the Div-e Sepid in its lair.
The battle between Rostam and the demon is fierce and intense. Despite the Div-e Sepid’s immense strength and magical powers, Rostam’s courage, skill, and divine favor give him the upper hand. Ultimately, Rostam slays the demon and uses its blood to restore the eyesight of the blinded captives, including the king.
This story highlights Rostam’s bravery, loyalty, and unmatched prowess as a warrior. It also symbolizes the eternal struggle between good and evil, with Rostam representing the triumph of light over darkness in Persian mythology.
